Partnering Strategy

Hemostasis:  Catalyst is generating bio-superior recombinant human factor VIIa (FVIIa), factor IX (FIX), and factor Xa (FXa) biopharmaceuticals by improving the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of marketed FVIIa and FIX therapeutics and applying its protease engineering know-how to a therapeutic FXa.  These compounds are being developed to treat bleeding in both hemophilia A and B patients and in non-hemophilia patients for surgery and trauma.  Catalyst partnered its FVIIa program with Wyeth (now Pfizer) on a worldwide basis in June 2009.

  • Catalyst is open to exploring regional and global partnering opportunities for its two wholly-owned FIX and FXa programs.

AlteraseTM Therapeutics:  Catalyst has made significant progress in engineering AlteraseTM Therapeutics to address complement-mediated diseases, that include age-related macular degeneration (AMD), transplant rejection, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinurea (PNH), asthma, autoimmune disorders, and cardiovascular diseasesCatalyst has selected complement component C3 as its initial target, which is at the nexus of the complement system, with an initial focus on developing an anti-C3 Alterase™ Therapeutic to treat delayed graft function (DGF) in renal transplants, an unmet medical need with a well-defined acute clinical endpoint.  The anti-C3 program is currently in preclinical non-human primate efficacy studies, in which Catalyst has demonstrated both tolerability and pharmacodynamic efficacy while being able to fully deplete circulating C3 for an therapeutically relevant time period.  Catalyst has selected an anti-C3 Alterase development candidate to take forward into further preclinical development.

  • Catalyst is open to exploring partnering opportunities by applying its AlteraseTM Therapeutics platform technology to complement-mediated diseases, including DGF, or on a target-specific basis in other therapeutic areas of interest to potential partners.
